3 Essential Things To Do On A Backpacking Trip To Bali, Indonesia

3 Essential Things To Do On A Backpacking Trip To Bali, Indonesia

Bali backpacking is the best. There is so much to see and do in Bali that it can be difficult to decide what to do on a trip there. Therefore, it is best to do your research and decide what are the must see attractions and activities in Bali. I have made many trips to Bali, and I think I have determined the essential elements to make for a memorable Bali adventure.

Kuta Beach

All Bali holiday packages should include a surfing stop. Bali is known as one of the best surf spots in the world. Beginners to surfing can head to Kuta Beach, which is only fifteen minutes from the airport. It offers many schools and easy waves. There is no rush like standing up and surfing on a wave. Anyone lucky enough to visit Bali must take advantage of this surf mecca.

When you are done with surfing, you will want to chill out on the beach. The aforementioned Kuta Beach is a great spot with lots of restaurants, bars and hotels from which to choose. In addition, Kuta Beach has the best nightlife in Bali. The parties may start later than you are accustomed to, around midnight, but they run until the sun comes up. Casablance, Bounty Ship and Sky Garden are three of the best clubs.

Go for a Hike

There are some great backpacking hikes to be had in Bali. The best hike is the climb up Mount Agung, which is the highest mountain in Indonesia. There are three great paths up the mountain, and the views from the top are spectacular.

Another great place to go hiking is the Monkey Forest in Ubud. This is one of the most beautiful forests I have ever see, full of mischievous monkeys that love to play with tourists. They will come right up to your hand and eat fruit out of it. Just be careful that they don’t steal your lunch when you aren’t looking!

There is also a temple in the heart of the Monkey Forest, which is among the most sacred in all of Indonesia. There are many colourful prayer flags on display on the temple walls, making it a very tranquil and beautiful scene.

See the Dolphins

A three hour drive north of Kuta lies Lovina. From there tourists can hop on a boat at dawn, and for a small fee they receive a beautiful boat tour of all the dolphins in the area. They are very spirited, jumping around the boats and playing to the crowds. It is a magical experience that is among my favourites in Bali.

Things to Keep in Mind

Most visitors to Bali need to pay a small visa fee when they arrive, so be prepared with cash to exchange money at the airport. Cheap Bali holidays are very easy to find. You can live like a king or queen here for around $20 a day, including food, a massage and all the activities. Bali is very safe, but just be sure to only take taxis that are licensed. Other than that, just have fun.
