DESTINATION : Salar de Uyuni

Salar de Uyuni is one of the most exotic travel destinations in the world, yet it is a completely natural phenomena with no human intervention with the exception of mining. It looks so strange, it seems alien, fake even. The explanation of this appearance is quite simple, Salar de Uyuni is just a salt flat – the largest one in the world at over 4,000 square miles. Located by the crest of the Andes Mountains in Bolivia. The entire location seems like a very calm body of water, which is funny because Salar de Uyuni use to be a very large prehistoric lake with much of it still containing that water beneath the surface. Getting here is not all that difficult but takes 3 – 4 days (round trip) by hiring a guide and an SUV using a legitimate tour company, which are abound.
